Neapolitan theatre is one of Italy’s oldest and richest cultural traditions, shaping the national stage and inspiring generations of artists.
Its roots trace back to ancient Greece, but the true birth of Neapolitan theatre came in the 16th century, during the Spanish rule, with poets like Jacopo Sannazaro.
In 1572, actor Silvio Fiorillo created Pulcinella — a mask inspired by a farmer from Acerra, a clever and ironic character who embodies the Neapolitan spirit.
During this experience, in a historic theatre in the heart of Naples, a professional master will guide you through the basics of physical theatre, gesture, and voice.
You’ll wear the traditional white costume, the black mask, and step into the shoes of Pulcinella — performing a short scene on stage!
