About the experience "Chestnut Festival"

Among the flavors and aromas of autumn certainly one of the most loved is that of chestnuts. It is precisely in this season, in fact, that the chestnut groves are ready to give their delicious fruits.

In Roccamonfina everyone has their own little big batch of chestnut trees. There is no difference of social class: from the doctor led to the peasant. You see them dressed alike, same tools. They leave together at the same time. The group is compact at the beginning. Slowly it frays and turns into single file and then regroups into small groups. These are assorted by age and by the things to tell each other. The youngest, strong in and vigor supported by the enthusiasm of arriving first, precede the group; just after the heads of families.

The men wear velvet trousers, jackets with many pockets, under a hand-made sweater from the non-bedside table, while sitting around the hearth.

Women instead wear the apron folded and knotted at the hips to create a comfortable s very useful for wearing chestnuts

You will participate in the chestnut harvest with a local, who will teach you the secrets of harvesting and picking the best chestnuts.
